About

Welcome!

I’m Amy; mother to two wonderful girls, wife to a smart and handsome husband, and maker of creative snacks featuring healthy, yummy food.Creative Kid Snacks is a blog designed to inspire your lunch and snack time creativity with your kids.

Here at CKS you will find EASY, HEALTHY, andIMAGINATIVE ideas for you to create with or for your kids as we make lunch time a fun time.

EASY

Creative Kid Snacks are made out of the foods most of us have in our homes.  I don’t use any special tools or techniques that you couldn’t replicate, so you can feel confident that your creative lunch will come out great if you decide to try one.

HEALTHY

I have a passion for teaching my children to eat and LOVE healthy, whole foods.  While not every snack is entirely composed of real foods, I try to use the most I possibly can in each plate I design.  Sometimes I design plates based on the ingredients I’d like to feed my children that day, and other times I get the idea first and use the most appropriate food I have available to make it.
When our children learn to love eating healthy foods, they will continue to make healthy food choices in life.  Creating these snacks together is a way to foster that lifetime appreciation for good food.

IMAGINATIVE

Every day, my daughter Grace (age 4) and her little sister Emma (age 2),
look forward to lunch time.  They ask, “What can we make today for our
creative lunch?”.
It is a time of excitement and bonding for us now.  It’s a way that I show the girls how much I love them.
It also turns the monotony of making lunch into a fun time.
We have made everything from animals to Bible stories to movies to scenes from our everyday life.  Lately I have begun using the snacks as part of mini lessons.  We read a book and then make a snack, or use the snack to introduce something new.  Being a stay-at-home-mom after nine years as a teacher, I can’t help but throw in a little learning along with lunch or snack time.

Some of our all time favorites include. . .

Grinch Party Poppers

Grover

Disney’s “Up”

Cottage Cheese Sheep

Airplane Dessert

Solar System

Hot air balloon ride

Using the “Find a Snack” search bar, you can search by ingredient or by proper name of the snack.
Enjoy your stay here at Creative Kid Snacks, and come back often!
